Less Plastic More Animals

Summer is here!!!! A much-needed break from virtual school.

My first thought was time to break out the swimsuits… ocean, lakes, and pools. But first, let me share what inspired me with my latest designs. This is an excellent reminder of how we can make a difference and leave the earth in a better place for the next generation.

The last few weeks of school for my kindergartener, they focused on Persuasive Writing. They decided to write a persuasive letter to urge others to help solve the plastic problem in the oceans. It was so fun to listen to the children learn and share the solutions they came up with. These 5 and 6-year-olds are so creative and smart. They talked about many creatures in the ocean, lakes, and ponds. After much discussion and research, the kids came up with a letter to persuade us to help solve this problem.

My little guy was so excited about this subject, for he loves everything there is to discover in the ocean. So he was adamant that we get this letter out. So what better way than to share it on my blog.

I think they did a great job, and I hope that we can all agree that the oceans are lovely to explore and we all should want the next generations to enjoy the beauty and many sea creatures.

During all this ocean talk, I decided to disconnect from my computer. With a sketchbook in hand, I decided to draw sea creatures of all kinds. These are fun abstract takes on some sea creatures we know: a Jellyfish, a Seahorse, a Crab, and a Fish.

After all my creativity was spent on ocean fun, I decided to share them with the world. My son loves this collection of creatures so much that he has requested them in his room. Although he still thinks I need an Octopus… ha ha for another day.

Check out the 3 Sea Creatures art prints on my Society6 shop and my mini summer collection in my Spoonflower Shop.

Hope your summer is off to a great start, and you make your way out for some fun on the beaches, lakes, and ponds. You will be reminded to find ways you can help.
